Electricity Never Sleeps |

Scientist: Dr. Anne Souders (2nd grade)
I decided to do a science project about watts and electricity. This is my website about my topic.
I went around my house and measured some electrical appliances such as a garage door opener, a fish pump, and a computer. I was especially interested in how much electricity the appliances used at night. I measured the amount of electricity using a Kill-A-Watt.
As you can see the garage door opener took the most electricity when it was not being used.
Table 1. Electricity Used (in watts)
| Appliance | Night | Day |
|---|---|---|
| Garage Door Opener | 30 | 570 |
| Fish Pump | 6 | 6 |
| TV | 4 | 128 |
| CD Clock Radio | 2 | 3 |
| Computer CPU | 1 | 115 |
| Answering Machine | 1 | 1 |
| Night Light | 1 | 1 |
| Computer Monitor | 0 | 35 |
| Nintendo Charger | 0 | 2 |
| Cell Phone Charger | 0 | 1 |
| 40W Lamp | 0 | 38 |
| Phone | 0 | 3 |
| Yard Light Transformer | 0 | 79 |
| Water Heater | 0 | 58 |
| Fish Tank Light | 0 | 17 |
